We use Windows Media Encoding technology to create
the audio and video clips you see here on Strangeland. We use
Microsoft Windows operating systems (2000, XP and 2003). We also
use Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player. We try to make
sure our stuff works with AOL, Netscape and even an occasional
Mac. However, we don't use those products regularly, and, based
on the stats of our visitors, neither do you. Therefore, we can't
spend a lot of time making sure all this stuff works with all
that stuff. It's not that we particularly love Microsoft. It's
just that we try to devote our time and money where our fans are
- and for now, that's with Bill Gate's goodies.
If you're having trouble viewing the videos,
or hearing the audio clips, try these steps:
Reboot your computer. Yes, we know that's
the easy, catch-all answer, but it really does work a lot
of the time.
Next, check to make sure you've got all
the right Software
on your system. Be sure you include the Required
Media Codecs!
Make sure you have cookies enabled for this
site (see the related FAQ question for instructions on allowing
cookies).
Turn off that lousy Norton Internet Security
or Zone Alarm Pro. These programs tend to interfere with A
LOT of good sites. Keep your anti-virus turned on, but drop
the security level of these two programs. (We find Zone Alarm
standard to be MUCH better than the Pro Version. You don't
get much other than problems for the $20 bucks.)
See if you've recently changed anything
on your system. Have you installed some new software, added
the latest virus, updated your favorite spyware? Try uninstalling
it. Have you recently done a Windows
Update? Try removing that.
If all that fails, you can always submit
a support
request to our nerdy little support guys. They
usually ignore requests from the unwashed masses, but who
knows... you may get lucky.
